Jeffton "Slack" Harrison
New York City, d. 9.April.2019, cancer.

Jeff Harrison

Jeff "Slack TV" Harrison was a much loved and veteran New York city bike messenger. He ran Instagram and Youtube pages under the Slack TV brand.

On December 17th, 2018 my husband came home and said he felt a little pop in his back at work. I asked him if it hurts where he needed to get it looked at. "it's a little painful but it should be gone within a few days... You know I'm tough" was his reply. Little did we know that was the reason we were able to enjoy the little bit of time that we had left with each other.

By mid-January the back pain turned into back side and hip pain to the point where he could barely walk. We had a routine where every morning he woke up to go to work, as he got home roughly 4 p.m. and during the evening up until he went to bed;  he would even wake up three to four times  throughout the night  to have me rub  Bengay and Zim's Max freeze  muscle gel all over his back and side while taking the strongest pain killers especially for muscle pain we could find... throughout all the pain he was going through  he will still got up every single day to go to work to make sure he can take care of his wife and daughter. I was a stay-at-home mom/wife but worked 2 days out of the week (I worked 5 days a week for 8 years at the same job the thought I needed some rest). My husband worked 40+ hours a week rain or shine and didn't want to worry his employers because he loved his job.

Unfortunately, the pain became more severe, so he went to a chiropractor for 2 weeks before going to work. At the end of the second week his toes started feeling numb, the chiropractor told him to go to the ER. Feb 2019, he drove to the er and waited almost 9 hrs before he was officially admitted. Because I had the baby, I took the bus home. In the morning my husband called and said I needed to come immediately they did an MRI saw a fracture on his spine and there is a mass pushing on the fracture. For about a week and a half they kept telling him he needed surgery but were still doing test because the mass could be benign, but they wanted to make sure. The day of the surgery they started to tell him they won’t do the surgery because the mass on his spine is not benign.

At this point they started to tell him he has STAGE 4 LYMPHOMA. WE JUST MADE ONE YEAR OF MARRIAGE IN MARCH AND CELEBRATED OR DAUGHTER FIRST BIRTHDAY. We were in shock because he seemed so healthy before, riding his bike at least 65 miles a day every day for about 5 years until right before the baby was born. Due to the fact that we knew we would have to do a lot we decided to get a car again in 2018.

My husband knew that with conventional treatments he would not survive as long as he would like but unfortunately, he lost complete feeling in his legs on March 24th and was readmitted to the hospital. They started immediate radiation and a week and a half later chemo (which they told him he would die if he didn't start). Unfortunately, that sped up the process and the 3 months they told him he had on March 29 turned into about 10 day. He was doing so well with the radiation, they were surprised. I was with him every day and I just kept hearing how well he is responding to "treatment".  I AM HONESTLY STILL IN SHOCK! I AM ASKING FOR HELP TO COVER HIS FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FROM ANYONE WHO IS WILLING TO HELP. I WOULDN'T WISH THIS ON ANYONE AND WITH THAT I DO URGE ANYONE WHO FEELS SOMETHING IS DIFFERENT IN THEIR BODY PLEASE HAVE IT EVALUATED! I do want to thank anyone and everyone in advance for any love and support you all a offerings, as well as his job who have been very understanding and supportive! THANK YOU ALL! - Tasya

Wont be there, but if you are in the city go pay respects to the fallen homie Jeffton Slack Harrison. He passed away yesterday from cancer. Leaving a family behind. I had no idea he was battling cancer. Dude was out going, spoke his mind and always showed me love since day one. Much like Aurilla. #fuckcancer – Crihs Tian
